“Because I have set my heart on the house of my God, I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house...Who among you is ready and willing to join in the giving?”
1 Chronicles 29:3-6
why we give
Giving is part of how we worship. It is not a fee for attending and not a bill the church sends. Everything we have came from somewhere, and Scripture is clear about where. We are not owners here. We are stewards, trusted for a while with time, money, abilities, and a building, all of it God's before it was ours. So we give without being squeezed.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. Harvest Church of God is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your gifts are deductible to the extent the law allows. Every January we send a statement covering the prior year, so you do not need to keep your own records.
One thing worth knowing: a gift designated to a specific person is not deductible, because the church has to keep control over how funds are used. If you want to help someone in particular, call the office and we will point you to the right way to do it.
-
Yes, and most of the people who give here do. You can set up a recurring gift in a couple of minutes, and you control it from your own account. Change the amount, change the date, or stop it entirely, anytime, without calling anyone.
-
A little. Giving directly from a bank account costs the church less in processing fees than a debit or credit card, so if you are choosing between the two, the bank option puts more of your gift to work. Either one is welcome, and we would rather you give the easy way than not at all.
-
Yes. Put the name in the note when you give. If it is a memorial gift, we will let the family know a gift was made in their loved one's name. We never tell them the amount.
